It’s Another Friday!!
Hello fam. I hope you were able to send some love to a mother yesterday as we celebrated all mothers. Let’s keep appreciating all mothers today with a new episode of the Mwenemugamba Friday Poetry (MFP) Series. If you are joining us for the first time, the MFP series is basically all about giving you Poems from the spoken word album “Wonders Of My Perception” which you can download from the link below: https://legacymusicinc.com/poetry/joseph-daniel-sukali-wonders-of-my-perception-album/
You can also watch the spoken word performance video on YouTube through this link: https://youtu.be/ApfChwwHm9k
Today’s piece is the oldest piece from the album and it was written in 2012 while at Malosa Secondary School. Kelvin Mvula gave this piece it’s tittle:
The Hooligan’s Dark Paradise. Enjoy! Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook, subscribe to my YouTube channel and leave a comment.
The Hooligan’s Dark Paradise
(written and performed by Joseph Daniel Sukali)
The breeze of dawn kisses his face As sun rays peep through holes of the roof The cock’s crow is his alarm He abandons his bug infested paradise In the bush behind the Gowero he answers the call of nature Before you know it he is in the tree that hid him Devouring Mangoes as tsetse flies sing praises in his face Another day another trip through hell to paradise
The pigs chant his name in their hunger and anger They get vimbuza energy to the shine of his yellow teeth Even pigs can smell the odor of his Sunday only bathed Lord’s temple Then the blatting begins in the goat house As he opens to another barefoot chase In his windowed shots, His buttocks smile as they wave goodbye in every step Another day another trip through hell to paradise
The sun is ready to hug the west in its red face Goat milk and tubers fixed his lunch before he left them After mapping his body with water in the name of cleaning He leaves for the supposed “yausiku” video show 14 summers old but his imagination already undresses every woman he cross paths with He walks home with his in-between twitching and leaking As he enters his Gowero ready to choke his beating heart till it vomits The bed bugs smile to the death of the Kolobo’s soul Another night in the Hooligan’s dark paradise
